The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and National Gallery of Ireland bring you Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition as you’ve never seen it before.
Pictures at an Exhibitionwas composed by Mussorgsky to depict an imaginary tour of an art exhibition. This concert will showcase an incredible display of young Irish talent as the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland perform Pictures at an Exhibition to a backdrop of artistic creations by primary school children.
A selection of primary school children will be inspired to create their own masterpieces through a series of workshops based on Pictures at an Exhibition and images from National Gallery of Ireland’s collection while the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland will rehearse for six days during their Christmas holidays to bring you this once-off event.
Under the expert baton of Maestro Gearóid Grant the orchestra also welcome cellist Brian O’Kane, a former member of NYOI, to perform Bruch’s Kol Nidrei.
