Masterclasses
Each year there are more applicants than places in the orchestra, however we realise that this is little consolation to someone who is not selected for the orchestra.
We want to help young musicians reach their full potential, grow in confidence and prepare them for a place in NYOI in the future so in 2011 we launched NYOI Masterclasses. Over 60 young musicians had the opportunity to join NYOI in Kilkenny College for a 2-day event, working with NYOI tutors in small groups to prepare for what was a fantastic afternoon concert for family and friends. They were also invited to listen to NYOI rehearsing and given free tickets to NYOI's performance at the Helix on 2nd Jan 2011.
Masterclasses will run at the same time as the NYOI course again this Christmas. Players will have the opportunity to work with the same tutors that work with the NYOI players and to get a sneak-peak at the NYOI rehearsals.
Participants will be selected from auditions each year.
